THE MALDIVIA 45
Lower costs. Longer routes. Better margins.
52 PAX. 13 TONS. 30 KNOTS CRUISING SPEED.
The Maldivia 45 is a passenger ferry designed and developed by AEOMAR, with full production coordination at a partner shipyard in China.
AEOMAR's brief was to deliver a vessel that works harder for its operator. The hull form and powertrain layout were optimised from the outset for fuel efficiency, directly reducing the cost per nautical mile — the single largest variable in ferry operations. Lower running costs mean operators can maintain competitive fares, extend routes, or increase sailing frequency without eroding margin.
The design also prioritises reliability and ease of maintenance, minimising turnaround time between crossings and reducing unplanned downtime.
AEOMAR's scope covered concept design, naval architecture, exterior styling, interior design, and on-site production coordination in China.
